Feng Zhu is a visiting research scholar in the Analytic and Translational Genetics Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital and Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. He is also assistant researcher at Center for Translational Medicine, The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University. He received his doctor degree from Xi’an Jiaotong University in 2013. Feng Zhu’s research focuses on animal model of psychiatry, gut-immune mechanisms and genetic mechanisms underlying psychiatry pathogenesis. Feng Zhu developed a new mouse model of schizophrenia by manipulating early-life gut microbiota and microbial metabolites. He also carried metagenome-wide association study to identified dozens of dysregulated gut microbes associated with schizophrenia. He has been investigating genetic foundation for abnormal intestinal mucosal immune and neuroimmune function in schizophrenia.
